#StitchFixFriday – Gotta Get My Fix

I think that my new favorite day is Stitch Fix delivery day!

Who wouldn’t love sitting around your house in your PJs…(or you can be like me…in your cube at work…listening to the 90s pop station on Pandora…anxiously awaiting the text from your husband that your Fix has arrived) waiting for the delivery man to drop off that beautiful box. I mean, it is pretty much perfect!

My face when I get the text from my husband that my Fix has arrived. Notice I am wearing a shirt from last month's Fix!

The Holy Grail has arrived!

The Holy Grail has arrived!

Now before I get TOO into this post let’s cover the basics of how Stitch Fix works, shall we?

1) Create a Style Profile and schedule your Fix online…from your couch…or bed…or the playground when you should be watching your kiddos on the monkey bars. I won’t judge you. Your profile is going to ask you all about what you like to wear, how you like things to fit, how you describe your personal style. It even allows you to link up your Pintrest, Twitter, and LinkedIn so that they can properly stalk you before selecting your clothes for you. For them to choose and send you clothes it costs a $20 Stylist’s Fee. I think that is totally fair BECAUSE that $20 is applied to your purchase! Ta-Da!

2) The box arrives and you spend up to 3 days trying things on and styling them with pieces that you already own (a HUGE leg up on shopping at the mall or Target). You can also use the super convenient Style Cards that are included in your Fix to help you if you are fashion challenged like me.

3) Decide which pieces you are going to keep and which you are going to send back. Now you know you are going to keep at least one thing (you didn’t pay that Stylist Fee for nothing!), but if you choose to keep ALL 5 PIECES you are going to get 25% off and your $20 towards purchase! Such a great deal that sometimes it works out cheaper to keep everything vs. sending back one or even two items.

4) Check out on the website and answer questions about your Fix. This is how they know what worked for you and what didn’t. I can say that they absolutely take this to heart. Last time I asked for business casual dresses and color and OH BOY did I get it! I also got a dress that I had pinned on Pintrest. My stylist told me she sent it to me for that reason in my personalized note (btw Stylist Sara I love you and want you to be my newest BFF).

5) Shove everything that you don’t want to keep for whatever reason into the prepaid bag and stick it in the mailbox…easy peasy!

Now onto the good stuff!

The unboxing makes me giddy. I NEVER used to get this excited over clothes.

First off, please pardon all of the children’s artwork, etc in the backgrounds this week. Hubs and I are still trying to get into a good rhythm with these photo shoots.

Item # 1 – Fun2Fun Colibri Heart Print Tab-Sleeve Blouse – $48

So I really liked the look of this shirt…until I tried it on 🙁 There was something about the fit that I just was not a huge fan of. It was very low and flowy in the front and back, which I liked, but then in the middle/side seams it felt too tight. Perhaps it would have been better if I was 10lbs lighter LOL It really reminded me of an elementary school art smock. This navy and white shirt went right back in the return bag.

The style card suggested a scarf...it just felt a little awkward for me.

Slight imperfection on the sleeve - looked like a little bit of color bleed. Even if I would have loved this one I probably would not have kept it.

Item #2 – Mak Jaclynn 3/4 Sleeve Button-Up Cardigan – $38

BIG fan of this sweater! Granted I am a cardigan-aholic and had pretty much already told myself I was keeping this before I tried it on. It was nice and soft. Not too heavy, but not too lightweight…if that makes sense. Basically it kept the office chill away since I have already worn it to work. As you may notice it is paired with a tank from my last Fix.

Item #3 – Mystree Bellflower Sleeveless Striped Lace A-Line Dress – $58

LOVE THIS DRESS! There is only one reason why it is not hanging in my closet at this very minute…I needed about 2 more inches in length. As a busy working mom it is a bit tough to chase kids in and out of daycare in jeans or dress pants let alone a dress that could end up showing off my bum! This could just be my insecurities as well…I don’t think that I have worn a shorter skirt since the early college years. Maybe that’s it…now that I am 30 (In case you couldn’t guess by the poster in the background!) this dress made me feel like I was trying to be too young.

Item #4 – Loveapella Minetti Dot & Stripe Print Knit Top – $48

So I hemmed and hawed over this shirt. I liked it. I hated it. I just couldn’t decide. I was a big fan of the style and color, but the fit is my struggle. I don’t do well with shirts being too tight on my armpits. I’m weird. In the end I sent this back. I liked it, but I just wasn’t sure I would wear it.

Item #5 – Ezra – Davina Scallop Stripe Textured Fit & Flare Dress – $58

This dress was the definition of perfection. The fit. The color. The style. It screamed me from the second that I saw it on Pintrest (Yup, this is the Pintrest dress). What you can’t really tell from any of the pictures is that there is a little bit of sequins in the dress. Not too much, but just enough.

<3 this dress!!!

I really need to lose that 10lbs so that the belt isn't too tight.

So there you have it! For those of you not keeping score I ended up keeping the 2 orange pieces and sending everything else back. I will probably regret sending the Minetta Dot & Stripe back, but that is a decision I will have to live with!

In my general comments I told them that next time I wouldn’t be opposed to some chambray, a blazer, or some pants, so we will see what Sara has in store for me.
