Not too terribly long ago I was seeking my hustle, and I think I have found it with the start of the start of the 2016-2017 school year.

In the just 2 weeks since the kids have gone back to school I have been exceptionally productive around the house and with work. I’ve made a to-do list a mile long (and knocked a few things off of it!), folded more laundry than I imagined was possible, gotten creative with our meals (meatloaf cupcakes anyone?), and made progress towards a brand new project. Here is what I am currently up to.

Enjoying

I’m enjoying being alone. The other day I realized that it had been quite a while since I was home, alone for more than 3 hours. It has been wonderful for my stress level and is helping me deal with the battles of the day with a tiny bit more patience.

This year it is quiet in the house...and I'm loving it!

Reading

Lists upon lists upon lists! With our big trip to Pittsburgh coming up for my brother’s wedding I have had blog to-do’s, podcasts to-do’s, family to-do’s, and packing lists coming out my ears. I’d say it is shocking how many things I put on my plate, but with a family of 5 and being my own boss I’ve got to keep on trucking along!

Watching

When I was younger I was an NBC girl. Almost everything I watched came from the peacock, but the older I get the more I have gravitated towards ABC. Earlier in the year I pulled some major Netflix binges that I capped off with Grey’s Anatomy being the soundtrack to my summer, and I have continued the trip through Shondraland by watching Private Practice. I’ve also been watching Lost for my podcast We’re So LOST. We are just wrapping up Season 1 and it is WAY better than I ever thought it would be.

Cooking

I am getting more creative with my cooking. Now that the kids aren’t underfoot all day, I am trying some more complex recipes like chicken and dumplings, meatloaf cupcakes, and oatmeal pancakes. I’m even going to branch out and try making my own pasta soon. This could just end up a glorious disaster though.

I'm upping my dinner game with things like Meatloaf Cupcakes.

Drinking

In addition to my virtual IV of coffee, I have been loading up on the water. I’ve had more pop (some of you may call it soda) in the past few weeks than I have in recent years and I’m starting to feel it. To help ease the transition I have been getting flavored seltzer waters, because there is just something wonderful about bubbles!

Another drink that has helped me through the Kindergarten funk that my baby brought home is Yogi Tea Echinacea Immune Support. Just a few cups of this and I am starting to feel like my old self.

Listening To

You may have heard that the 90’s are my jam, and I have continued that love lately. I am incapable of listening to podcasts or audio books while I am writing so I am jamming to a 90’s Alternative Rock station on Pandora. This lends itself to a little karaoke and dance parties for one which happen to be the best way to break up the day.

Starting

New projects are all around me! This week my husband and I have started to put the wheels in motion for a new podcast and I am really excited for it. It is similar, yet different from anything I have done before and that is what makes it an excellent challenge.

Coming Soon: A New Project from Universe Box

Oh, London!! That is one of my dream cities! My husband and I keep talking about moving there after all of the kids graduate high school 🙂

I’m so envious of your productivity! My girls just started school this week, but it was half-days mostly, and preparing for a birthday party this weekend. Hopefully I can catch up with your level of productivity over the next couple of weeks. Can’t wait to hear more about those meatloaf cupcakes, too!

It is so nice to have a peaceful house to work in…but a lot easier to get lost in the world of Netflix LOL

I’m currently wondering when are we going to have to make up this day we took off for Hermine which lost its strength before reaching Charleston. Thank goodness.

hahaha Hermine really did lose her strength quickly! We drove through part of it on Friday during our trek from Orlando to West Virginia, but no where near as bad as expected.
