I’m a TV addict. When I was younger I knew what day it was by what show was on that night…and I made plans accordingly (like, I wasn’t going to miss Dawson’s Creek for ANYTHING). Now with DVR and Netflix, life is a little bit more flexible…except that the internet is full of spoilers and they are hard to avoid.
Here is my Fall 2016 TV Preview…set your DVR accordingly.
Gotham (FOX) – If you’ve been reading this blog for any length of time then you know my love of Gotham, but in case you don’t, here’s the deal. I have NEVER considered myself a comic geek in any way, shape, or form. I glaze over when my Superman tattoo’d husband started talking about what he is reading, but when he asked me to do a podcast for Gotham he sold it as a police procedural (like Law & Order: SVU) set in Gotham City pre-Batman I went with it. I am not HOOKED and will tell anyone who will listen to watch it. It can be violent, but it isn’t overly gorey (8pm on Monday’s aren’t prime gore time) and the story is amazing. With Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) and the other monsters that broke out from Indian Hill roaming Gotham it’s going to be a Mad City.
This is Us (NBC) – I heard about This is Us a few months ago and was instantly hooked for 2 reasons – Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia. After watching (and crying through) the show trailer, the excitement for this new dramedy only grew. The show promises to fill the hole that was left in our hearts with the departure of Parenthood while still delivery a twist. This is Us premieres September 20th at 10pm against some highly established shows, but I have faith that it will win over audiences.
Designated Survivor (ABC) – I have a soft spot when it comes to political dramas (The West Wing and Scandal for example) and Designated Survivor has all of the drama that you could possibly want. The premise is that the person of succession that sits our the State of the Union becomes president when there is a terrorist attack on the Capital and everything that brings with it. Should he step down? Should he step up? Who do you trust? Designated Survivor looks to he high paced and high intensity and a great way to get through the middle of the week with a Wednesday at 10pm time slot.
Thursday is a night of comfort shows. With Grey’s Anatomy (ABC), Supernatural (CW), and The Big Bang Theory (CBS) keeping you safe like a warm blanket you know what to expect. These are the shows that everyone will be talking about tomorrow…and for many days to come. Rest easy that you have your old standbys to provide you comedy and drama as you head into the weekend.
Are you really watching TV on Friday night?! Go on a date! Hit a local play! Catch up on your DVR from the rest of the week 🙂 What I’m saying is…go be social! I gave you a little something to get you through the week, but now it is time to let your hair down.
Gilmore girls (November 25) – This isn’t really a surprise, right?
What are you planning to watch this fall?
