With Mother’s Day being only a few short week’s away, I am going to need to start dropping hints about what I want this year before I end up with a Dollar Store knick-knack and my not so favorite candy.
If we are going to go out for a meal, I would like everyone freshly bathed and in nicer clothes. I can’t imagine that we will be going out for a fancy meal, but is it too much to ask that I see everyone without a character or logo on their shirt? Minecraft and Minions are fine for school, but on Mother’s Day I would love picture perfect…even if it only lasts until we sit down at the table and someone spills ketchup. Bonus points will be awarded if mimosas or mojitos are served.
I have never in my life liked roses. Please don’t waste the money on them. I was never that girl. There is a great big world of flowers out there to choose from. Tulips, daisies, lilys – these are EXCELLENT options. They sell these at Publix for a great price…no need to spend the money on a fancy delivery!
A freaking massage. I have never had a massage in my life and I would give my left pinkie toe to get one. BTW kids driving cars and trains on my back does not count. While we are at it, how about a pedicure? It has been years since someone has tended to my corns and bunions and I could use a fresh coat of paint. Summer is upon us! This would be an excellent place to spend that money that you saved on the flowers.
Time alone. Like, a good couple hours. Let’s say at least 6. During the school year/week I have approximately 2.5 hours to myself Monday thru Friday and 50-60% of that time if dedicated to working. Do you know how quickly 2.5 hours goes? I want a large chunk of time to do something selfish (NOTE: This time is separate from the massage and pedicure time). As this will probably include shopping for myself, some cash or a gift card would be nice too. Bonus points if you work with my friend’s husband so we can have this time together. A drinking/shopping buddy would be cool.
If gifts must be purchased for Mother’s Day, please get me something that I want or could use. This means that the children need some guidance and supervision while shopping. While I love the glowing frog light and solar powered dancing flower of Mother’s Days and birthdays past, they are just sitting on shelves not being admired. Better options may include:
- An Alex and Ani bangle or two
- Notebooks – especially Moleskin
- French macaroons
- Another adult coloring book
- A blender/food processor
- A fun phone case and ear buds that aren’t shorting out
I don’t think that this is too much to ask. I mean, I’m not asking for everything on this list! These are just some options to choose from.
What are you adding to your Mother’s Day Wishlist? What do you normally get for Mother’s Day? Do you normally get anything that is on this list?
