I am a firm believer in helping people when they need it in hopes that someday, should I ever need help, someone will be there for me. I’ve volunteered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Susan G. Komen. I spend time at my kids’ school. I donate a dollar almost every time they ask at the grocery store. I’ve walked with the American Cancer Society.
This weekend I will take on a new organization and find out the power of superheroes.
“A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” – Christopher Reeve
Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation
You may know Christopher Reeve from his famous role as Superman in Superman (1978), but he was so much more. He was a philanthropist and humanitarian to many causes including Parkinson’s and Amnesty International since the 1970s. He has received an Obie Award and the annual Walter Briehl Human Rights Foundation award for his work.
When Christopher Reeve was injured in 1995, him and his wife Dana became hands on activists for helping people with paralysis. Upon her untimely death in 2006, the Christopher Reeve Foundation took on her name as well.
The Mission: The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation is dedicated to curing spinal cord injury by funding innovative research, and improving the quality of life for people living with paralysis through grants, information and advocacy.
The Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation works to provide free support to the paralysis community and it’s caregivers, as well as funding numerous research programs to promote recovery and increase the quality of life of sufferers.

How YOU Can Help
As a group we have set a goal of $1,000…and as of June 8th we are over halfway there! If we get 100 people to each donate FIVE DOLLARS we will blow away our goal. If you can’t make a donation at this time SHARE THIS POST! It costs NOTHING to raise awareness.
Is there a cause near and dear to your heart? Have you wanted to get involved with charities, but don’t know how? Let me know in the comments and I will help you as best I can! Remember if you liked this post, share it with a friend.
