2016 was quite the year.
I came back from a blogging hiatus to start regularly writing again thanks to this post, added a newsletter, joined Orlando Moms Blog , and the Russians spammed my site (and many others!) after the elections. I decided to look at my stats and see exactly what interested you guys about Crunchy, Crafty, and Highly Caffeinated this past year. Let’s just say I was pleasantly surprised by what I found.
Personally, I love this post for one main reason – it is just so Florida! Since moving to Orlando from Atlanta in the summer of 2015 my family has embraced the Florida lifestyle (flip flops all the time, theme park junkies, and hitting the pool/beach as much as possible!) and we aren’t looking back!
Make sure you read why baby powder is on my list. I promise it is life changing!
When we are in the car I am constantly putting on music from “back in my day” and that is exactly how my parents used to torture me. I have officially become my parents. I just cannot help but jam out to the songs I loved in middle and high school…and I am doing my best to expose my kids to something with actual lyrics other than repeating work or baby over and over.
*Sigh* This one tugs at the old heart strings every time. I’m still not ready for my little guy to not be my baby, but I am becoming much more accepting of it after seeing him in the classroom. He is doing SO WELL in Kindergarten that he earned the Citizenship Award the first semester and people are constantly telling me how much they love him. THAT. That makes me feel like I am doing a good job at this parenting thing.
This one was a bit of a surprise to me. I never realized so many people were in the market to slime friends and family, but they are! This post was created out of a segment for my podcast Universe Box where we talked about the Nickelodeon channel on TV. It was awesome. Go watch the whole episode (and subscribe to the channel while you’re at it…kthanks!).
Okay, so full disclosure, I have done AWFUL at sticking to this Movement. I still firmly believe in every word I wrote, but my execution and stick-to-it-ness kinda suck. SORRY! Have you been trying Eat it or Starve? I hope you have been more successful than me!
Mmmm Mmmm Mmmmojito! Just seeing this makes me thirsty. Maybe I should venture into more drink creation in 2017. What do you think? Do you have a favorite drink that I should spin and make new? Let me know!
This post is a hard slap at reality every time I see it. It is rough because it was hard to live through, but it is important because it reminds me how far my family has come over the past 5 years. We were down on our luck and needed help so we swallowed our pride and got some. Little did we know the judgement we would receive for it.
Over the past few years I have written a handful of posts about the Stitch Fix service and a few individual pictures are always WAY more popular than the actual posts. Basically it just lets me know that they are still sending out a few of the pieces that I have received over the years.
Ahhhh the post that got me back into blogging. I will forever be grateful to Asha Dornfest for sending me an early copy of her book to review and promote. Being my second most popular post of 2016 is pretty awesome and helps me think that hopping back into the writing game was a good call. I still really wish that this book would have come out 9 years ago when I was a new mom because there are some A-MAZ-ING hacks in it.
Bad Moms just makes me ever so happy. When the movie was announced in May I FREAKED OUT . The trailed looked amazing and those actresses were everything. Then, thanks to Orlando Moms Blog, I was able to attend an early screening of the movie. If you’ve seen the movie then you know there is a LOT of drinking in it…you know, like reality…so I put together this simple drinking game and it has been as close to Pinterest viral as I could have hoped! It brings me traffic daily and I love everything about it. I’m looking forward to the Christmas-themed sequel that is coming out later in 2017.
