I feel so much more organized since I bought these! Well I reached out to my family, friends, and readers and found out that there was some interest on an update post. So here we are. 6 months later, how am I using my Erin Condren Life Planner.

The Updates

The first update is pretty obvious…I got a new cover! A while ago EC offered FREE covers so I jumped on the opportunity to try something new! As much as I loved my first cover, this one is perfect…and it have my site on it which makes me smile!

I also have a PINK sequins planner band!! My husband bought me this (headband) from the clearance section at Six Flags Over Georgia when we went over the holidays and I LOVE it! It just adds more personality. I do still use the silver band on my notebook.

How I Plan My Week

Erin Condren Life Planner 6 Month Update - Crunchy, Crafty, and Highly Caffeinated -

First off, I sort of pre-plan. As things come up I use plain post its and add the important information. this picture shows my blog and podcast responsibilities, but there are frequently post its about school events and projects due.

Erin Condren Life Planner 6 Month Update - Crunchy, Crafty, and Highly Caffeinated - www.crunchycrafty.comAfter I pre-plan I choose a color scheme. This week I chose to coordinate with the colors in the planner PURELY because I had just bought this shiny blue striped washi. My washi shopping addiction is excessive. I would show you my collection, but it is embarrassing. I will say my washi is almost always on sale/clearance, but I have been gifted quite a few rolls now. (I’m actually looking at 4 right now from Ashley of Keeping Up with Ashley and Cody right now!)

Erin Condren Life Planner 6 Month Update - Crunchy, Crafty, and Highly Caffeinated - www.crunchycrafty.comNext I do some maintenance on the page. I usually go through and white out over the words on the bottom…they just aren’t cute! Please, Erin, just stop! We all cover them with washi and stickers. I don’t always washi the same way, just whatever fits my mood so this week was pretty minimal and clean.

Then I start adding my events and appointments. For my podcasts I write the time, podcast, and theme (if applicable) on the EC blank stickers and then add them. This is a new thing for me. I kind of hated these stickers at first, but since I like using Ultra Thin Sharpies at any opportunity it’s necessary…and now I love it!

I also add some coordinating punched stickers for color and more Sharpie writing space. They are also great for highlighting special events (Student of the Month day, Pay Day, etc).

At the top of the page I have started adding thin, plain washi so that I can track which blog posts go up and when. Since I aim to post no more than three times a week this is very helpful. I also try to offer a variety of posts so it is nice to see at a glance what I have already done this week.

This is what my layout initially looks like. There are some people who decorate A LOT with stickers and stamps, but that’s just not my style (though I love the look of it). I also do not track as much as some other people. After this I like to add a few stickers to give my pages life, but not so much that I can’t fill in my to-do’s and appointments that come up!

Erin Condren Life Planner 6 Month Update - Crunchy, Crafty, and Highly Caffeinated - www.crunchycrafty.comWe buy these crazy expensive planners to keep ourselves organized and this has really helped me. I really think that my blog is starting to do things that I want because of this organization and we have only missed like one or two kids’ assignments have been missed…and that’s because I wasn’t told about them!

Erin Condren Life Planner 6 Month Update - Crunchy, Crafty, and Highly Caffeinated -

I still HIGHLY recommend the Erin Condren Life Planner after 6 months+ of use. I actually just put in another order today for more of the plain planner stickers, some of EC’s NEW planner stickers, and the EC markers because I love this company.

  4. BritishMumUSA

Drooling…… Can I drool over a journal/planner???? I am drooling……. I LOVE WIDE EYED OWLS!!!! I even got a Christmas Ornament Purple wide eyed owl 🙂 Maybe for this Christmas i will get one from the family….

    • mrsdmeeks

You can absolutely drool over them! You can actually make a wishlist on the website and send it to people so that you can have the personalization exactly how you like it! The 2015-2016 planners come out in June, so keep an eye out! (And yes, the owls are adorbs!)

  5. Tanya @ Mom’s Small Victories

I love my EC planner, using my first one! I haven’t gotten my free cover yet but I was going to put my blog name on it too! Thanks for sharing with #SITSBlogging!

    • mrsdmeeks

YAY!! They really are the best planners that I have found!! Have an amazing weekend 🙂

  6. Mrs_ AOK (@Mrs_AOK)

I love your planner, I’ve been wanting to get myself a fancy planner for sometime now. Right now I’m using a boring old desk calendar for blog purposes. It works, but it does not come with me when things pop up.
Thanks for sharing how you keep your planner in order.

    • mrsdmeeks

Oh you HAVE to have a planner that can travel!! How else are you going to know your availability when talking to sponsors at a conference?

Thanks for checking out my planner! Have a great weekend!

  7. Katie @ Recipe for Perfection

Super cute! It’s kind of like making one of those cute baby calendars with all the special stickers, except for a grownup with deadlines! And I mean that in a good way. 🙂

I’m hopelessly undecorative with my planning- I have one of those larger-than-a-checkbook monthly calendars and a pencil (always missing the eraser or the point) somewhere rolling around.

    • mrsdmeeks

Part of the the fun is the “planning” (decorating!). It is fun to give it a theme and commemorate special days like birthdays. For my daughter’s birthday, I let her pick out the stickers (Frozen, of course) to put on it!

  8. Angela Gilmore

I love this! I have always wanted to be organized in a stylish way like this. Right now I am more organize than I’ve ever been with my blog but I just use an Excel spreadsheet. Once I can keep myself accountable I will definitely switch to something stylish. I’ve never heard of Erin Condren, I’m going to take a look around!

    • mrsdmeeks

Welcome to the addiction!! From the minute I heard of Erin Condren I became addicted (my 4th order will be here this week!). I think there is something awesome about a paper planner and the satisfaction of marking off completed tasks. Thank you so much for stopping by, have a great week!

  9. Leslie

i love these planners! I’m trying to get myself in a position so I can actually buy one. I love all of the cute extras it comes with. I also like your headband as a holder, that is genius!

    • mrsdmeeks

This planner is a true lifesaver! They release the 2015-2016 (you can get 18 mo or 12 mo) in June, so start setting aside $10/month. That will give you $50 by the end of June. Then you sign up through my referral link and they will send you a $10 off coupon in your email (pretty quick). Then you will be all set…and properly addicted! LOL

And the headband was a perfect addition!! Have a great week 🙂

    • mrsdmeeks

Hahaha! I love being paperless for a lot of things, but there is nothing more satisfying than sitting down and writing out your week…and then marking off things when they are DONE!

  10. Lissette

I’ve been staring at these for a while, and really do love it. I just wish they had inserts to plan blog posts. I ended up making my own planner using printables I found on Etsy and a small binder I picked up from the container store, and so far it’s working great. I do agree that having a paper organizer is so much more different than keeping everything on the phone. I find I don’t remember as much as I used to using iCal like I did with a paper organizer.

    • mrsdmeeks

A lot of people do actually make inserts for the Erin Condren planners! I have seen a lot of different dashboards for meal planning, fitness, etc and would not be surprised if there were blog planning ones out there (or on the horizon!).

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have an awesome weeekend!

  11. Lysa

Can I get an education on washi tape? Somehow I’ve never seen it in the store (Target?) and I don’t understand its function even after reading. For borders only? Thanks in advance! 🙂

    • mrsdmeeks

HA! A lot of the time I only use it for borders and marking the weekend, but it is also great for making longer events, like spring break or family visiting. Some people also use smaller pieces of washi to mark on single days the way that I use the stickers. I hope that this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions!
