So my Erin Condren Life Planner – Initial Reactions post has been pretty darn popular. It’s awesome. I love spreading the good word of my addiction! (I also really like those referral credits…sign up here!) You may have also seen my unboxing video for my On-The-Go Notebook which I use almost as much as my life planner.
I feel so much more organized since I bought these! Well I reached out to my family, friends, and readers and found out that there was some interest on an update post. So here we are. 6 months later, how am I using my Erin Condren Life Planner.
The first update is pretty obvious…I got a new cover! A while ago EC offered FREE covers so I jumped on the opportunity to try something new! As much as I loved my first cover, this one is perfect…and it have my site on it which makes me smile!
I also have a PINK sequins planner band!! My husband bought me this (headband) from the clearance section at Six Flags Over Georgia when we went over the holidays and I LOVE it! It just adds more personality. I do still use the silver band on my notebook.
How I Plan My Week
First off, I sort of pre-plan. As things come up I use plain post its and add the important information. this picture shows my blog and podcast responsibilities, but there are frequently post its about school events and projects due.
After I pre-plan I choose a color scheme. This week I chose to coordinate with the colors in the planner PURELY because I had just bought this shiny blue striped washi. My washi shopping addiction is excessive. I would show you my collection, but it is embarrassing. I will say my washi is almost always on sale/clearance, but I have been gifted quite a few rolls now. (I’m actually looking at 4 right now from Ashley of Keeping Up with Ashley and Cody right now!)
Next I do some maintenance on the page. I usually go through and white out over the words on the bottom…they just aren’t cute! Please, Erin, just stop! We all cover them with washi and stickers. I don’t always washi the same way, just whatever fits my mood so this week was pretty minimal and clean.
Then I start adding my events and appointments. For my podcasts I write the time, podcast, and theme (if applicable) on the EC blank stickers and then add them. This is a new thing for me. I kind of hated these stickers at first, but since I like using Ultra Thin Sharpies at any opportunity it’s necessary…and now I love it!
I also add some coordinating punched stickers for color and more Sharpie writing space. They are also great for highlighting special events (Student of the Month day, Pay Day, etc).
At the top of the page I have started adding thin, plain washi so that I can track which blog posts go up and when. Since I aim to post no more than three times a week this is very helpful. I also try to offer a variety of posts so it is nice to see at a glance what I have already done this week.
This is what my layout initially looks like. There are some people who decorate A LOT with stickers and stamps, but that’s just not my style (though I love the look of it). I also do not track as much as some other people. After this I like to add a few stickers to give my pages life, but not so much that I can’t fill in my to-do’s and appointments that come up!
We buy these crazy expensive planners to keep ourselves organized and this has really helped me. I really think that my blog is starting to do things that I want because of this organization and we have only missed like one or two kids’ assignments have been missed…and that’s because I wasn’t told about them!
I still HIGHLY recommend the Erin Condren Life Planner after 6 months+ of use. I actually just put in another order today for more of the plain planner stickers, some of EC’s NEW planner stickers, and the EC markers because I love this company.
