An Ode To Sugar

I love sugar.

A lot.

Sugar makes me happy.

Sugar comforts me.

I have a sweet tooth to rival Ben and Jerry.

But lately sugar is letting me down.

Sugar has started to make me feel bad.

It has made me feel uncomfortable in my own skin.

So now sugar has to go – at least until I can break the addiction and learn to control it.

I have to share some of my favorites first in An Ode to Sugar!

Ice Cream

I just can’t get enough. There is little more satisfying than a delicious ice cream cone from the local shop. Perfect for cooling you off on a summer day after splashing at the beach or celebrating a birthday when paired with a wax kissed yellow, chocolate, or marble cake.

Donuts

Sunday morning is nothing without donuts. Filled, powdered, and sprinkled – I love them all. Paired best with a cold glass of chocolate milk.

Candy

Give me all of the candies!!! While chocolate will always be king, I do love a good lollipop or Jolly Rancher. Candy is easy to store in your pocket for a long trip and makes a great simple gift for a friend having a rough day.

Cupcakes

I have come across very few people who do not like a cupcake. They are the perfect size to satisfy the sugar carving when it hits. They can come in so many flavors and designs. All the delight of a full sized cake, miniature!

    You said it! Though I would have had cookies at the top of my list. Oh how I do love a soft, sweet, freshly baked chocolate chip cookie. And quick breads. And brownies, and truffles, and everything else on this list. It’s a good thing today is a gym day….

    I love sugary goodness too! Brownies, milkshakes, and cookies! Oh my!

    Although, I think I would have a harder time kicking salt…

      Salt is another one of my problem areas, but I know that sugar is FAR worse for me right now

      Thank you! So far, so good. I have noticed that if I have something small (a mini candy bar or small muffin) helps me from going NUTSO and binging…also, I’m down a few pounds 🙂

    They did a study on sugar and found that it’s as addictive as cocaine. I went cold turkey on sugar and carbs 4 years ago. I feel much better after getting rid of it. These days, I can still have treats like cupcakes, cakes, ice cream on cheat days which is like once a week.
