Back in December you may remember I participated in the #TimeLordChefs Christmas Challenge well we are back! This time the challenge is to make something inspired by Classic Who. No problem…except I have NEVER WATCHED ANY CLASSIC WHO! (Please don’t throw things at me!)
One of these days it will happen…it just hasn’t yet. So this challenge was super tough for me. So I did what any proper geek would do…I searched the internet to find anything food related in Classic Who. Let me tell you…there ain’t much! But then I found THIS!
Apparently the Third Doctor dined on some gorgonzola at the Auderly House and encouraged others to do so. Perfect…gorgonzola…I love cheese! I could make this work!
I thought it over and over. I could make a tart. Or a puff. Or a dip…with celery for the Fifth Doctor. But I just couldn’t get my act together. Then yesterday while trolling Pinterest it dawned on me…CHEESEBREAD!
I was running low on regular flour so I decided to try my hand at almond flour pizza dough…and then threw some garbanzo beans on there for fun. This cheesebread came out AWESOME.
Sautee one clove of garlic in 3-4 tablespoons of olive oil. This will infuse your oil with the garlic flavor which will make your bread flavorful.
Next I mixed 2 cups of almond flour, 2 eggs, a sprinkle of baking powder and my garlic oil in a bowl. It not going to make a smooth dough, but it will be moist and moldable.
Then I spread it out on my pizza pan. It was pretty impossible for me to get a nice round edge, so I went rugged and patted down. I probably could have thinned it out a bit more.
Next up was the toppings! Like I said, the garbanzo beans were a pretty last minute decision so I opened up a can of beans, rinsed them off, and sprinkled them on top. Finally came the CHEESE!
I put the cheese on pretty thick since I wanted this to be a cheesebread. Then I popped this in the oven at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes. It came out melty and crispy in all the right places…and I had to hold back from eating the whole thing!
Now make sure and check out the other participants in the #TimeLordChefs recipe event hosted by Recipe for Perfection! There is a LOT of talent out there!
