IT. IS. TIME.
Presents. Family. Friends. Snow. Hot Cocoa. Turkey. Ham.
So, being the lover of all things pastry, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite cookies to devour at holiday get togethers! At the end you have the opportunity to spread some holiday cheer by participating in #SharingCookies14!!!
Cookie #1 – Jam Thumbprints (By Intimate Weddings)
These cookies remind me of spending the weekend with my mom and grandparents, Mamall and Pop, making cookies. Almost every year the 4 of us would bake and bake and bake. It would be Pop’s responsibility to grind up the walnuts and I would help with the dipping and rolling. This was always OUR TIME to be together and laugh.
Cookie #2 – Peanut Butter Blossoms (By Hershey)
It is not Christmas without a good Peanut Butter Blossom…as long as my dad hasn’t eaten them all!! The hardest part of making these was to try and NOT eat all of the kisses while unwrapping them. I feel like there were many times that someone had to run to the store for more kisses 🙂
Cookie #3 – Italian Wedding (Christmas) Cookies (by What’s Cookin’)
Sprinkles and icing!! These cookies ALWAYS adorned my grandma’s trays for the HUGE Christmas Eve party and even better for Christmas morning breakfast. They are also frequently found on the Cookie Table at weddings…and if you don’t know about the cookie table I encourage you to look it up. BEST. TRADITION. EVER.
Cookie #4 – Pizelles (by Kitchen Confidante)
Oh pizelles how I have a love/hate relationship with you. I loved helping Grandpa put the batter on the pizelle iron and then stacking the cookies to put in the back bedroom. What little kid doesn’t want to help make cookies? But then there is the anise. Not my favorite flavor in the world, but EVERY year I eat at least one and I tell myself I am going to like it this year…and then I don’t LOL
Cookie #5 – BUCKEYES or Peanut Butter Balls (by Tasty Kitchen)
These are my FAVORITES!!! Chocolate and Peanut Butter…what else do you need? Nothing. The answer is nothing. I may have been shoo’d away from the cookie trays on christmas because I would grab a few every time I walked by them!
Now is your turn to share you favorites!!
Julie from Girl on the Move and myself have decided that we want to host a Cookie Swap so that we can share some of our favorite cookies with our super cool internet friends! (Psst….this means YOU!) The swap is going to be a Secret Santa style through the awesome Elfster website (Not sponsored…just LOVE them) so your information is safe and only 2 people can see your information me and the person who “draws” your name. So here’s how to play!
1) Enter the #SharingCookies14 swap over at Elfster by NOVEMBER 29 which is the Saturday after Thanksgiving. –> http://www.elfster.com/exchange/view/12762218/7789a6/
2) I will be drawing names first thing Sunday, NOVEMBER 30. Once the name’s are drawn you will get your person’s name and address via the email address that you provide.
3) Send your person 1-2 dozen of your favorite Holiday Cookies by December 13. This gives you 2 weeks to get your cookies in the mail. It also might be nice to include a fun card with your contact info and the recipe, but that is completely optional.
4) Enjoy your cookies when they come in and be sure to THANK your person!! Everyone loves a quick social media shout out or email!
If you run into any problems along the way please let me (Anne Marie) know at firstname.lastname@example.org! I have been using Elfster for years around the holidays and it is super simple.
Well that’s about it for this Christmas Cookie post! I can’t wait to see what all of you send for #SharingCookies14
