This past weekend I hosted my first Cookie Swap! Here are some pictures from my super fun Mom’s Night In (MNI), as well as some tips that I picked up through this experience.
1) Make sure you have foods OTHER than cookies and sweets available for snacking. There are going to be lots of beverages laced with sugar and the cookie competition samples, so it pays to have options.
2) Make it easy. I think I tried to get too fancy and overcomplicated. I asked for everyone to try and print out their cookie recipe (get the printable for yourself) so that we could all recreate the cookies if we wanted. Next year, we will just munch on cookies. 🙂
3) Insist that everyone signs up for their cookie type ahead of time. This will ensure that you have an awesome variety to sample. In addition to these drool-worthy cookies we had Butternut Squash/Nutella Stuffed Cookies and Mexican Wedding Cookies. We had the most amazing mix!
4) Prizes. Everyone likes prizes! We each voted for our favorite cookie and first prize was your choice of a bottle of red or white wine.
So there are some of my tips for hosting a Cookie Swap! If you don’t have a group of friends, family, or neighbors that want to get together, you can participate in #SharingCookies14! I am hosting, with Julie at Girl on the Move, a Secret Santa Style Cookie Swap. Sign ups end NOVEMBER 29th and then you will have until DECEMBER 13 to send out 1 dozen cookies to your swap buddy! Have a GREAT Holiday Season!
